Can I have a policy that covers my partner and myself?

Yes - you can arrange life insurance policies that cover two people, these are known as 'Joint Life Policies'.

There are two types of 'Joint Life Policies':

'Joint Life First Death Policies'
These policies pay out immediately if EITHER of you die whilst insured. If you are insuring for Mortgage Protection purposes, this is probably the best type of insurance for you.

'Joint Life Second Death Policies':
These policies pay out only if BOTH of you die during the term of the policy. period covered by the policy. This does not mean that you both have to die at the same time, but only when both people named on the policy have died will the sum insured be paid out.

Joint Life Second Death Policies are cheaper than Joint Life First Death Policies.
