How do I go about making a claim on a life insurance policy?

Whether the insurance was bought through an insurance broker or not, you will need to make a claim directly to the Insurance Company who issued your policy.

With the policy documents there will be a booklet explaining the details of how to claim.

If a claim arises and you or your dependents do not have the advice booklet, contact your insurer immediately to discuss the next step.

If there is a claim the insurance company will be ready to make a speedy payout - but you will need to perform the following to ensure this:

  • Find the policy document and make a note of its number
  • Phone your insurer and ask for a claim form.
  • Complete and return the claim form with the insurance policy document and other required documentation
  • Use Recorded Delivery
