If your application is straightforward, you are young and have no history of medical problems and you can complete your application over the phone, you could be on risk within the hour.
If it is a straightforward application and you have sent your application form back in the post, the quickest will be a week.
Most insurers accept about 3 in 10 of applications almost immediately; about half of Applicants have to wait three weeks; and 2 in 10 wait 6 weeks or more. The remainder will normally be completed within 10 weeks.
