What causes delays and can delays be reduced?

Enquiries about health are the main cause of delays with life insurance.

However there are other things that can cause delays too. For example, it's a common problem for customers to forget to sign and return important documents. Without the return of those documents they cannot be insured.

If you completed a telephone application, the details of the answers you gave will be sent in the post for you to check over and sign. This letter may also ask your permission to ask your Doctor for confidential information about your health. If you do not reply to this letter your Application will be put on hold.

If your insurance premium is over £50 per month you will have to prove your identity, this is a requirement under UK Law. The letter will explain what documents they need to see, and you will be able to send photocopies - without a reply your Application will be put on hold.

You may receive a letter asking you to sign and return your Direct Debit form - without this form your insurance payments will not be able to be taken.

The golden rule is: Reply to all letters promptly.
