How many letters you receive will depend on how many complications arise from the details
on your Application.
Sometimes your insurance can be completed with nothing other than your receipt of the
policy documents.
You might get just one of the following letters or maybe four or five!
All letters requite a prompt reply from you:
- If your Application was completed over the phone, you will receive a letter with details
of the answers you provided and asking you to sign and return the form. You need to check
the details carefully. In this letter you may also be asked if they can contact your
Doctor for information about your health. You must reply to this letter or your Application
will be put on hold.
- If your monthly premium is over £50 you will need to provide proof of your identity,
this is a UK Law requirement. The letter will explain what papers they need to see -
and you need to send the information or your Application will be put on hold.
- Your may be sent a Direct Debit form to sign and return. Without this your insurance
cannot start.
The letters described above are the ones you are most likely to receive - but
here are some examples of others:
- A letter asking for more details about aspects of your health, type of occupation,
or potentially dangerous hobbies or sports.
- A letter asking for more details relating to an answer you provided on your Application
or a missed question.
- A letter asking you to make an appointment for a medical.
- A letter telling you that the insurance company will only offer you cover at a higher
premium or with certain conditions attached. You may be requested to either confirm your
acceptance by phone or sign a form confirming your acceptance. (This is called a Rated
policy.)
