I'm self-employed. Can I apply for a loan?

Nowadays, loans for the self-employed are widely available. They used to be difficult to find and expensive, but no more.

With so many people choosing to be self-employed there are many lenders who are all too happy to accept you as a client - subject, of course to your credit history. So whether you run your own business or a one-man band, you will still be able to get a secured or unsecured loan.

Many lenders now offer special loan packages for the self-employed - and they can be tailored to suit your personal financial situation. Even if you do have a poor credit history, such as mortgage arrears, credit card debts or loan payment defaults, there are still lenders out there who will offer you a self-employed loan - although it might be expensive.

For a self-employed person to get the same kind of rates and terms as a conventionally employed person, you will need to have at least 2 years' accounts certified by you accountant in order to prove your regular income.

If you can't supply these accounts, speak to one of our Loan Consultants for help.
